Trident Commodities is an independent, U.S.-based firm focused on the trading of physical commodities, with a primary emphasis on metals, energy and agricultural products. We are headquartered in New York, with operations in Manila.

Trident began trading in 2021, when Paul Tillotson and T T Bhat came together from the TBCC Group in New York City. Our core strength is our long-standing partnerships with suppliers and end-users across the United States, Europe and Asia.

Our team brings a diverse cultural perspective, combining Western and Eastern business practice. Together with our financial expertise, this lets us deliver comprehensive, multidimensional solutions to our trading partners — efficient trade execution and tailored structures, aimed at relationships that last.

Paul Tillotson

Managing Director

Paul Tillotson

Paul has over 25 years of experience in physical commodities trading, management consulting and healthcare services, with expertise spanning strategy, operations, and mergers and acquisitions. He began his career at Jipang Corporation, a trading company in Osaka, Japan, where he was instrumental in its growth in the Hong Kong market and its expansion into the United States. He spent six years with TBC Commodities in New York City before founding Trident.

He has also co-founded three healthcare services companies in the managed care and practice management areas; after he led one company's expansion into four markets including New York City, the two-year-old start-up was acquired by a leading public company in the sector. He has held senior positions at Ernst & Young and Archstone Consulting, leading strategy and operations projects at Fortune 100 companies in the pharmaceutical and insurance industries, and has been deeply involved in physical metals trading in North America, Asia and Europe. Paul holds a BA in Economics from the University of Florida and an MBA from Columbia Business School.

T T Bhat

Director

T T Bhat

A seasoned finance industry professional with over 30 years at HSBC, Mr. Bhat brings extensive experience across Global Markets, Treasury and balance sheet management, risk management, risk strategy and risk-based capital, and broker-dealer and asset management businesses — spanning five countries and three continents, in both emerging and developed markets. His last role at HSBC New York was Chief Operating Officer for the Global Asset Management business in the USA, responsible for risk, operations, IT, change management and regulatory interactions. He held senior roles at HSBC in the US, UK, Hong Kong and the Middle East, having begun his banking career in India.

He served as an independent director and advisor on the boards of two privately held companies in India between 2005 and 2010. He currently serves as honorary Chief Strategy Officer at the nanotechnology firm Nanocrystals Technology Inc. in New York, and on the advisory boards of the ASCEND Connecticut chapter, Posiview Capital Advisors in Pune, India, and Hexanika, a technology start-up in New York. Mr. Bhat is a science and law graduate of an Indian university.
